PREVENTION

Public Education

The Durham Fire Department offers many types of public education programs to the community. For Seniors, we offer the National Fire Protection Association "Remembering When" program which educates seniors on fire safety, accident prevention and fall prevention. In 2002, we instituted the Greek Fire Academy for University of New Hampshire Greek leaders educating them in place of assembly safety, fire extinguisher use and fire inspections. The fire department also offers classes in:

  • Portable fire extinguisher use.
  • Babysitter Safety
  • Commercial Kitchen Safety
  • Fire Drills/Evacuation Planning
  • General Fire Safety
  • Smoke Detector/Carbon Monoxide Detector Placement
  • Basic first aid
  • Cardio Pulmonary Resucitation (CPR)

For more information or to schedule a class, call us at 862-1426 or e-mail us at fire@ci.durham.nh.us.
