FIRE DEPARTMENT PREVENTION

Fire Permits

REQUIRED PERMITS

The following permits are required by state law or local ordinance and can be obtained at the Fire Department during regular business hours.

Assembly Permits; Required for any area where more than 49 people assemble.

Automatic Sprinklers Systems; required before any sprinkler system is installed.

Blasting; required before any explosive charge work can be done.

Cutting and Welding; Required in University buildings.

Confined Space; Obtain permit before work, notify Fire Department once completed.

Fire Alarm; Obtain permit before installation of new or working on existing systems.

All Other Fire Suppression Systems; Obtain before installation of new or working on existing systems.

Fire Works; Required for all displays.

Gas Burner; Required for all new and replacement systems.

Halloween Haunted House; Required for each season.

LPG Tank; Required before installing tanks.

Oil Burner; Required for all new and replacement systems.

Open Flame; required in places of assembly.

Pyrotechnics; Required in any place of assembly.

Standpipe Systems; Obtain permit before installation of new or working on existing systems.

 
Residential Burning Permits may be obtained at any time from the shift commander. A permit to burn on the ground is required any time there is no continuous snow cover.
